Screenprints.
15 x 30 inches each. Unique works. |
This series of screenprints embodies the doubling of trying to consolidate differing versions of the same recalled moment. Through the printing process, I capture competing accounts of the documented past, so their accuracy is obscured, as a way of calling into question notions of truth when remembering. Furthermore, I purposefully seek areas of erasure within the series to mimic the irretrievable and uncatalogued details of memories. Without physical access to the past, recall is beholden to the brain's ability to accurately transfer information from our perception of the present into our long-term memory storage, but, like a sieve, information is inevitably lost in the process.
