Emulous Recall began as separate monotypes which I produced by trying to replicate the memory of a single moment. As I printed more of the monotypes, each monotype gained influence from my memory of creating the previous monotype, rather than being solely influenced by my recollection of the real moment. Studies show that each time we access a memory, we overwrite the memory through the present lens and it was this function of memory that led me to the medium of monotype.
To mimic my experience of attempting to sift through conflicting versions of my memories, I segmented the completed monotypes and recompiled portions of each into the final set of flag books. Each flag book contains two full recollections created from 18 monotypes.
